Welcome to Workplace Culture Optimization!
Iâm excited youâre here, but I want to set an expectation before we get started: this program is not about figuring out what your coworkers need to change. Itâs about having the courage to look at yourself.
I can say that because Iâve had to do it. There was a time in my life when I could give you a pretty convincing list of people, circumstances and experiences responsible for why I felt the way I did. And some of those things really were painful. Some really were unfair. But eventually I had to face a hard truth: I could be right about what happened to me and still be responsible for what happened next. That realization changed my life.
Thatâs the heart of the work weâre going to do here.
Over the next 90 days, youâre going to start noticing your patternsâhow you respond under pressure, what triggers you, how you communicate when youâre frustrated, where you avoid difficult conversations, where your boundaries need work, and even what you bring into the room before you ever say a word. You may recognize things you love about yourself. You may also see some things youâd rather blame on somebody else. đ Thatâs where I want you to get curious instead of defensive.
One of the philosophies I live by is be open to everything and attached to nothing. You donât have to agree with everything I teach. I actually donât want you blindly agreeing with me. Test it. Pay attention. Ask yourself, âIs there something here for me?â instead of âWhich person on my team really needs to hear this?â We all know how easy that one is.
I also want you to recognize what it says about your employer that youâre here. They could invest solely in systems, sales, productivity or another piece of software. Instead, theyâre investing in you as a human being, because who you are outside of work doesnât magically disappear when you clock in. Your health, stress, relationships, mindset, energy and emotional patterns all walk through that door with you. An employer willing to invest in helping you grow personally AND professionally is something I hope you donât take for granted.
Now, my part is to give you the tools. Your employer has created the opportunity. Your part is participation. I cannot do that piece for you. You will get out of these 90 days what youâre willing to put into them. Show up. Do the work. Be honest on the assessments. Participate even when something feels uncomfortable. Especially then.
I teach that feelings are indicators, not dictators. You donât have to feel motivated to follow through. You donât have to feel comfortable to grow. And knowing something intellectually means very little if you never practice it. The real transformation happens when we bridge the gap between knowing and doing.
Youâre not here to become perfect, and youâre definitely not here to fix everybody around you. Youâre here to become more aware, more intentional and more responsible for the person you bring into your workplace, your relationships and your life.
Because hereâs what I know from doing this work myself: when you stop waiting for everyone else to change, you get your power back.
Thatâs where weâre starting.
Be open to everything. Attached to nothing. And willing to participate in your own transformation.
Letâs get to work.
